Sunday 28th August 2011

This mornings cygnets meet commenced as normally with Fly tying with Jimmy Miller. Today the Cygnets were shown and given the opportunity to tie a "Light Bulb"

"Light Bulb"

Today there were 10 Cygnets and 2 new members who attended. the morning's fishing started with the 2 new members getting instruction on the grass from Thomas Anderson, Professional Casting Instructor and Dave Armour.  The other Cygnets started fishing on the Mill Pond.

It was very windy today and cloudy, there was  a cold feel to the wind. Fishing was difficult with the strength of the gusts of wind. This made it impossible for some of the podiums to be used.  There were a few fishing showing but it appeared a lot of the fish were down in the water today.

The Cygnets persevered at fishing. They tried various fly's from lures to dry flies to wet flies and buzzers.

The only successful Cygnet today was Robert Fyfe who managed to hook and land 2 lovely Rainbow's.

Sunday 14th August

14 Cygnets attended todays meet. The morning started as normal with fly tying with Jimmy Miller. Today the Cygnets were shown and tied the "Cat's Whisker".

The weather was mixed with sunny spells, showers and a brisk wind at times.

Professional Casting Instructor Thomas Anderson demonstrated and instructed 4 new Cygnets on the grass in the art of fly casting.  Meanwhile the more experienced Cygnet's commenced fishing on the Millpond.

It was not long before Robert Fyfe hooked and landed a fish the first fish of the day. This was followed shortly by the second fish for Robert.

New Cygnet Stewart Allan was delighted to hook and land a 2lb 4oz blue trout which was netted by fellow Cygnet Robert Fyfe.

Shortly after a cry was heard from the corner of the Millpond where Cameron Smith was hooked into a big fish.  The Fish swam into a large patch of blanket weed which was on the line, the fish was seen a few feet behind this, staying deep. With some encouragement and advice by Alasdair Fyfe, Cameron's fish was successfully netted by fellow Cygnet Robert Fyfe.  The Rainbow Trout weighted 4lbs 8oz.

Sunday 31st July 2011

Today's Cygnets meet was a day to remember for one of the Cygnets. 9 year old Abbi Hutton hooked and landed a superb blue trout weighing 8lbs 2oz from the Millpond.  Abbi hooked the fish using a "Dog Biscuit". With a little help from Dave Armour she managed to get the fish to the net.
